Astra Tower is a luxury high-rise apartment building in the heart of Salt Lake City, bringing high-density residential living to the ever-changing Salt Lake skyline. The project’s sustainability efforts, powered by Hunt’s electrical framework, make it LEED Gold Certified, and the building’s wellness initiatives have earned it a WELL Certification.
In collaboration with Jacobsen Construction, Hunt’s Electrical, Engineering, and Technology Divisions installed the electrical framework and technology for this 41-story, 680,000 sq. ft. building. In February 2024, Hunt equipped the building with three 4000-amp generators and supplied permanent power. Our crew trimmed out the first 20 floors, including amenity levels like the green area and pool.
Our Technology Division also contributed to the project's sustainability efforts through several significant scopes. As one of these scopes, we installed low-blue light and intuitive lighting systems that run on a circadian rhythm, adjusting themselves to produce optimal lighting based on sunlight. This initiative supports Astra’s mission to provide a healthy living environment for its residents.
Clear communication and coordination with other crews in Astra Tower were key in managing work time efficiently. The nature of downtown Salt Lake City doesn’t offer much space for staging, and our crews worked alongside Jacobsen to make the best use of their limited area. Our crews maximized vertical space for our materials. We utilized our in-house Prefabrication team to achieve just-in-time deliveries to save on time. Hunt’s diligent planning, versatility, and adaptability kept us on schedule.
